Product Safety, ISO Activities

• Responsibility was for evaluation, testing and documentation of safety Certification activities issued by CSA, for equipment, products and devices, which can be required under Canadian laws.  

These activities consist of product Certification for Canadian and US requirements, International IEC Reports, Technical Evaluations and Information Services to aid manufacturers in preparing a device for Certification and testing activities, Letters of Attestation or other documents as required, through CSA, which is an accredited National Certification Body.  

Typical products are medical devices, information technology devices, industrial control equipment, hazardous location equipment, electrical, electronic and many other types.  The utilisation, technical application and compliance verification of all applicable product safety standards, including CSA, UL, IEC, and any other necessary National or International safety standards, are used on a daily basis.  

Activities involved complete project management and accountability for every Certification and Report.  This included Project budgeting and financial management, testing and evaluation, report creation and documentation, technical communication with device manufacturers, evaluation of any previous product safety certification documentation and the issuance of any final documents that are required, on behalf of CSA. 

Specialization and training included: IEC Standard 60601 Medical electrical equipment - General requirements for safety, IEC Standard 601010 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use - General requirements, IEC Standard 60950 Information technology equipment - Safety, IEC Standard 60825, Safety of laser products, Hazardous Location Certification activities, ISO 9000 auditing and other additional training.

• Responsibility was for accurate and proper ISO 9000 technical conformity of all installed equipment relating to the GSM Cellular Communication Project in Slovakia. This included official Nortel Certification of over 650 microwave sites and 500 mobile cellular radio sites.  Other activities include quality assurance development, meeting with Nortel's client to review quality acceptance issues, analysis of problems encountered and assisting in efficient invoicing procedures for all installed Nortel Certified and Client accepted equipment.
